Brother Phillip Andrew Palczynski, of Downers Grove, Illinois, formerly of LaGrange Park, passed away quietly at home on Sunday, June 4, 2023. He was born on July 3, 1969, educated at Northern Illinois University, and attained his lifelong dream of becoming a firefighter. At the time of his death, he was serving as a firefighter and paramedic with the Arlington Heights Fire Department, where he had been employed since 2000. Phillip was an active member of both St. Joseph Parish in Downers Grove and the Men’s Club at St. Margaret Mary Parish in Naperville, Illinois. He served as a director of the Northern Illinois Steam Power Club, where Phillip was able to share his passion for steam engines with his family and many friends. He is survived by his family: Susan (wife), née Smith, Kevin (son) and Katherine (daughter) as well as brothers Raymond (Theresa) Palczynski, Peter (Lorrie) Palczynski, John (Carla) Palczynski, and James Palczynski, and sisters Mary (Frank) Hammock, Helen (Mar Harmer) Palczynski and Margaret Palczynski and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Ruth Palczynski.
